If you are reading this, you are probably trying to log in to Priority Matrix with your Microsoft account, but you’re seeing an error that looks like the image below.

Application 'app-ID' is requesting permissions that are either invalid or out of date

In case you can’t read the text, this is what it says:

Authentication failed: AADSTS650051: Application 'cf9bdbc1-18c7-4700-b6b3-093f241e2d8a' is requesting permissions that are either invalid or out of date.

What this message refers to is a mismatch between the version of Priority Matrix that is registered with your Microsoft account, and the one that’s currently published (and which you’re trying to access). In December 2021 we ran into an issue with our app registration that required updating our app profile with Microsoft. While the functionality of our app didn’t change, some users may have to make some changes in order to be able to log in again.

If you find yourself in this situation, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Enterprise applications in your Microsoft Azure dashboard
  2. Search for “Priority Matrix” and click to open its details (if you have more than one result, make sure that you click the one with Application ID “affadfb6-f17b-428f-97f9-9aae3b6175bc” as seen next)
Find Priority Matrix among your registered Enterprise Applications.

3. Once you open the app registration, you need to click on “Properties” and then “Delete”, in order to remove any conflicts with the newer, currently released version of Priority Matrix. If you’re unable to perform this step, you may have to ask your IT administrator for assistance with this specific step.

Once you complete the steps above, you should be able to sign in to Priority Matrix using your Microsoft account.

Other related problems

Even if you’re able to log in without issues, you may be facing other issues, such as the ones below. Please refer to this list of action items to resolve each individual problem:

  1. Files fail to upload to your connected OneDrive storage. To fix this, have your administrator reconnect your OneDrive account. Note that this only applies to users with OneDrive storage. An alternative is to temporarily switch to “Appfluence storage” for your files.
  2. Your Priority Matrix for Outlook is unable to create new items. To resolve this, sign out and sign in again using your Microsoft account. If your account uses OneDrive storage, please also complete the previous step.
  3. Your task connectors have stopped working. To fix this, simply reconnect your task connectors as needed.

If you continue to experience these or other problems, please send us a message, and we’ll do our best to assist in a prompt manner.
