Removing yourself from a project can be necessary for a few different reasons. You are able to remove yourself from a project you own, which will open up a few possibilities for project members, or you can simply remove yourself from a project you have been added too.
If you are looking for instructions on how to remove other users from a project, we have separate instructions for that.
Using a mac:
Remove Yourself from Your Project (Remove Owner):
When you remove yourself from a project you created, that will make the project a “free-for-all.” In other words, when the owner of the project is removed it makes every member of the project an individual owner. This will allow any project member to to invite others to the project.
Use case: If the creator of the project no longer has business working in the project, if the owner is removed it will give the project members the capability to expand in ways they need too.
- Select the project
- Go to the right hand side under project details
- Right click your name
- Select “Remove from Project”
From there, the project will not longer have an owner.
Remove Yourself From Project you do Not Own
When you remove yourself from a project you do not own you will simply be removing your visibility from the project, and not altering the owner of the project (as mentioned above)
- Select the project
- Go to the right hand side under project details
- Right click your name
- Select “Remove from Project”
Using a Windows:
The same thing will happen as listed above when either removing yourself from a project you created or removing yourself from a project you have been added too. You will do it the same way by:
Removing Yourself from any Project:
- Select the project
- Open the team panel
- Go to the right hand side under project details
