The Employee Retention Matrix: A Tool for Human Resources Professionals

The Employee Retention Matrix is a powerful tool for Human Resources professionals to assess the likelihood of an employee staying with a company. It is based on two factors: motivation and ability. By assessing these two factors, the matrix divides employees into four categories: High Motivation, High Ability; High Motivation, Low Ability; Low Motivation, High Ability; and Low Motivation, Low Ability.

High Motivation, High Ability

Employees who fall into this category are likely to stay with the company. They have the motivation and ability to succeed and should be given opportunities to grow and develop. These employees should be given additional responsibilities and challenges to keep them engaged and motivated.
