Feel Less Busy at the Office [5 Simple Tips]

February 24, 2016November 23, 2016

tips to feel less busy

Too often, we fall into the trap of working on the wrong things. We approach easy tasks first while leaving more important work on the sidelines. This results in constant work, but little forward progress. We’ve put together 5 tips that will help you feel less busy.

5 simple tips to feel less busy:

  1. Set concrete goals – then, make sure that each action you take during the day advances progress toward this goal.[bctt tweet=”If you find yourself working on something that doesn’t align with any of your goals, drop it.”] Cutting out scattered tasks throughout the day can help you streamline your work.
  2. Single-Task – avoid switching tasks at all costs. This will allow for deeper focus, and more efficient work. In order to implement this, set aside specific chunks of time during your day to do things like respond to emails and call important clients. These distractions typically take away from focus on other, important items.
  3. Delegate – identify tasks that don’t require your expertise, and assign them to team members. This will help keep you focused on things that demand your unique skill set, and it will take unnecessary work off of your desk.
  4. Prioritize – each day, determine what the most important things you need to finish are. Don’t work on anything else until these items are finished.
  5. Shorten Meetings – meetings are important for every team, however, they can be time consuming, and we all know that not much actually gets finished during a meeting. When you call a meeting, set a specific end goal for the discussion. Each team member should walk away from the meeting with specific action items they can work on immediately.
